Postkort fra 2039: The Lamps That Lean

Maja,
The Kapelvej lamps went live tonight. My project, technically — the adaptive ones that dim to a low amber when the street's empty and lean their light toward you as you walk, so the pool of gold moves at your pace. Two years of meetings for a streetlight that follows you home. I stood at the corner by Assistens and watched an old man walk the whole block inside his own little travelling glow, and I couldn't file a single complaint about it.
You'll laugh. I walked it myself after. Slowly, so the light would stay. And halfway down I remembered us walking that exact stretch, must be twenty years now, arguing about something we'd both forgotten by Nørrebrogade, no light following anyone. We just walked in the dark and it was fine.
I don't know why it got me tonight. The lamps do a kind thing and it made me miss the version of the street that didn't. Sofie would say I'm being sentimental about infrastructure again. She's not wrong.
Tell her the lamps are hers whenever she visits. They'll lean for her too.
A.
