BRIDE OF THE TERRORDROME: JULY 2026

July 2026: Cats and CIGS.

WELCOME TO THE TERRORDROME. It is still Disability Pride Month!

TERRORDROME DISPATCHES are sent out once a month, and are a great way to keep up with my cozy slice-of-life updates.

(I’m also on Bluesky as @cyborgurl.)

LIFE UPDATE, PART 2:

Last month my strong butch boyfriend, C, and I moved into our new place. It’s a much more affordable living situation for me now that I’m no longer on a private university salary.

This month has been split between unpacking the new place and working on client work and other unannounced projects, so there’s not much to report again this month. As compensation, please accept some photos of the cats I live with now.

ANNA ANTHROPY PATCH NOTES: JULY 2026

  • I’ll be speaking at the Chicago Indie Game Showcase (or CIGS) in September! This is the event’s first year of including tabletop games, and I’ll be speaking about tabletop RPG design. I might have copies of the Princess Sword Bound Edition for sale if I get them in time.

THE CHICAGO BEARS: NEW LITTLE GUYS I LIVE WITH

Cohabitating with C has also meant cohabitating with the furry little creatures that follow xir around. Allow me to introduce the bears, who may show up in the newsletter from time to time:

A fluffy calico peers over a computer monitor at the viewer.

Pebble is a funny, playful, particular little cat. She is somewhat Garfield-coded. She adores C but, when C is at work or sleeping, will occasionally treat me as an acceptable substitute. He’s temperamental and I rub up against his boundaries sometimes, but I was expecting it to take much longer to get to where we’re at, so I’m considering that a win.

A tiny black cat with a little puff of white fur on her belly, sitting on a cardboard box.

Willow is a precious and shy little lady. She likes the balcony, climbing, and the occasional incredibly loud high-speed back-and-forth lap across the apartment. Willow doesn’t love to be touched but is a comfortable, quiet companion. I appreciate her presence, though I occasionally bump her with my leg (she tends to sleep on my side of the bed).

WHAT HAVE I BEEN PLAYING CORNER

  • The Incident at Galley House. The long-awaited commercial release of Type Help. Predictably, I do think that typing is better suited to the mystery than a visual interface, but I was happy to finally get to pay William Rous money. I did appreciate the new material in the game, which changes the framing of the story in a fun way. I suspect there’s a secret ending, and have some ideas about how to reach it, but I’m happy to accept the one I got.

  • Ultima Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams. I went back to Ultima VI as part of researching my recent zine, but I bounced off it. Martian Dreams, on the other hands, I’ve spent hours with. It’s a fun, very fanfic-y premise: Victorian celebrities on a Barsoom-adjacent pulp Mars. The game is full of interesting hooks that lead into each other neatly, and the world is small and contained. My one anxiety: one of the lore books reveals Emma Goldman is somewhere on Mars, and I’m starting to worry they put her in The Town of Evil People.

  • Prince of Persia. Specifically, the DOS version, which I think is the most beautiful. It’s been a while since I’ve played this game, and relearning the muscle memory for its jumping and climbing has been fun. I’ve really developed an appreciation for the teaching and storytelling of the first handful of levels. Related, I’ve also been dabbling a little in Digital Eclipse’s The Making of Karateka, Prince’s predecessor.
