RIP DJ Worm

10 June 2026

Hello friends!

On Saturday, we held A Bug's Doof 2 at DOOF CORP HQ and streamed online. It is the exact type of party I love: friends crowded in a living room on a sunny morning, drinking swimsuit coffees and sharing music before having a big lunch. Felt like having family home for the holidays. Joining us online was an international coterie of friends and doof lovers. It makes my big blue chest swell! 🩵

The doof started deep in an ant colony, with Field Enhancement’s pillbug avatar playing in a central channel next to a giant, discarded JBL speaker and iPhone. Doofuses explored (and got quickly lost) in the tunnels, adorning themselves with big baseball hats made from leaves and a queen ant outfit that made you look incredibly large and glam. Next on the lineup was DJ Worm, who began to play, beckoning everyone to the surface to dance… but it ended in tragedy when a baby bird immediately ate him. On reflection, maybe a worm shouldn’t set up their stage next to a bird nest. Rest in Peace, DJ Worm.

Blegg jumped out of the nest to save the day as the sun-blinded crowd crawled up to the surface, playing atop a giant daisy accessible by a spiral staircase of leaves. Blegg was then eaten by an even bigger bird, and we realised we could actually jump into the bird's mouth and there was another stage in its stomach! Manicpixiedj was in the belly booth as a bee, spinning tunes while doofuses danced and sloshed in the digestive fluids. What a party!

Although DJ Worm was eaten before they could play, we were able to recover one song from their USB (all other tracks were corrupted after being barfed back up by baby birds). Please enjoy (?) their remix of Doctor Worm.

It was a surreal adventure soundtracked by the best music, something that Cyberdoof excels at. At DOOF HQ it had the feel of an early morning afters club and a LAN party, perfect weirdo Wellington internet fun. If you attended, please help us by answering our survey (big thanks to those who already did). I can't wait for the next doof, I already feel a bit of an empty nest at HQ!

BOOF’S CORNER

DON’T GOT A LOT TO SAY, STILL SLEEPING OFF THE PARTY FROM THIS WEEKEND. SPENT A LITTLE TOO MUCH TIME IN THE DIRT IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN… HERE’S SONGS THAT ARE HELPING ME TO RECOVER

  • David Edren - Kernel - MITOCHONDRIA IS THE POWERHOUSE OF THE CELL

  • DOOF DUCK - shrek.scr - SO MUCH TO DO SO MUCH TO SEE SO MUCH TO DO SO MUCH TO SEE SO MUCH TO DO SO MUCH TO SEE

  • despi, mareminu - since u been gone (PISADINHA remix) - IN A POOR MOOD? TRY PUTTING THIS BAD BOY ON REAL LOUD

Gidget’s Updates

Just before A Bug’s Doof 2, we quietly released a new version of Gidget’s Power Tools. This is a command line tool that lets you do a near-live preview of the Doof that you are building in MagicaVoxel. Whenever you save your .vox file, Power Tools will automatically rebuild and refresh a space that loads in your browser. You don’t have to continually re-upload your file over and over to check it out, so you can work in real time! And now that the preview publishes as a live doof, so you can even invite your friends in to check it out with you while you build (⌒▽⌒)☆

If you are already using MagicaVoxel, this is a a great tool for building out party spaces. And if you haven’t used it yet, this might be the excuse to try it out! It’s what DOOF CORP currently uses as a stepping-stone while we work on more top-secret stuff. You can always reply to this email if you want to talk about MagicaVoxel or Power Tools, we’d love to help you get set up.
