I started a Patreon! Also: new wall sprites, my birthday, and my top 25 videogames
I started a Patreon!
I just launched a Patreon, full of rewards for people who want to help me keep making games! You can get early access to my new games and soundtracks, weekly game dev diary updates, your name in the credits, and even access to work-in-progress builds and prototypes, such as the original shooting game prototype of Ducky’s Delivery Service.
Check it out if you're interested. Thank you for supporting my work! By the way, that image is the first time I've ever drawn a duck with its beak open. I'm slowly expanding my pixel art horizons...
When I first started this newsletter, I planned on using it for giving people updates on my games, along with other random topics such as games that I've been playing, or games I worked on before I became a solo developer. But it turns out I didn't have enough to talk about every single week, so it quickly morphed into becoming a weekly game dev diary.
Now that I'm moving those game dev diary updates over to Patreon, I'm going to make my newsletter biweekly instead of weekly. I'll still give updates on the games that I'm working on, just not with the same amount of detail as on Patreon. I hope you still enjoy the newsletter after these changes, and I'd love to know if you have any suggestions for things I could write about either here or on Patreon!
My prototype has walls now
This week I drew some new wall sprites for my prototype. I'm really happy with how they turned out!
I got the new flower, grass and rock sprites into the game too. I had to make them much less bright than in my original concept art so they didn't stand out and look like foreground objects, but I'm still happy with how they turned out too. Next I'm going to start designing and animating some characters!
My birthday is coming up!
My birthday is on Tuesday October 10th, just under two weeks away. Just like last year, I'm going to put both of my games on sale for 48 hours to celebrate (50% off Chessplosion, 20% off Ducky's Delivery Service). So if you know anyone who is interested in my games and is waiting for a sale, feel free to let them know about it!
My top 25 videogames, maybe
I kept seeing a bunch of friends use this website to make a list of their top 25 games, so I wanted to join in and give it a try. Here's what I came up with:
It's kind of hard to read the text at this size, but I included the full list of game names in my cohost post.
It's not my Definitive Official Top 25 Game List or anything, as I probably forgot about lots of other games that should be on there. For example, I saw God Hand and Mega Man Zero 3 mentioned almost immediately after I posted the list, and both of those could easily have been on there. But it was still fun to think about, and I do enjoy those 25 games a lot.
Let me know if you like any of those games too! I wonder if I secretly have any Acceleration of Suguri or Ragnarok Battle Offline fans in my audience...
That's everything I've done this week. Thanks for reading, let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions on the Patreon/newsletter changes, and I'll see you next time with more updates!
