Ducky's Delivery Service releases on PC in 7 days! And console soon after that!
This week I've been getting some rest and making some more progress on the console version. I can't believe it's coming out so soon. Anyway, the main news is...
The PC version is releasing in 7 days!
Ducky's Delivery Service is launching on Steam and itch.io on July 20th, only one week from today!
Here are all the details:
- It's launching on July 20th at 8:00am PDT (11:00am EDT, 16:00 BST, 17:00 CEST etc)
- It costs $9.99 (US dollars) or the equivalent in your region/currency
- It will have a 10% launch discount. Itch doesn't let you set up the launch discount until after the game is out, so you might have to wait a couple of minutes after launch for me to manually set it up. I'll speedrun it as fast as I can!
A few people have asked me if I would prefer them to buy the game on Steam or on itch. The short answer is that it's basically the same, so you should go with whichever platform you prefer using. Itch gives me more money, but the Steam algorithm is more likely to promote a game that lots of people buy on Steam.
That said, if you do buy it on Steam, leaving a review makes a HUGE difference. This is especially true on launch, as Steam doesn't show people a game's overall review score until it has at least 10 reviews. I hate to be all "please like and subscribe and do this whole list of things for the algorithm", but leaving a Steam review on launch makes such a gigantic difference to small indie games that I really have to mention it. So please consider leaving a review if you buy the game on Steam, and I hope you enjoy the game on July 20th!
The console version is even more ready for release than it was last week!
Last week I mentioned that Ducky's Delivery Service is coming to a popular console that has a handheld mode and a docked mode. That console company has now approved everything that I had to send to them, from the game itself to the text and screenshots that go on the online store page, and I have locked in a final release date.
It's actually much sooner than I expected - around a week after the PC release date. All I'm waiting for now is for the console company to give me permission to tell people about the console version of the game. Hopefully they'll get back to me soon, because I really want everyone to know that they have the option of buying Ducky's Delivery Service on their favorite handheld-and-docked-mode console if they prefer it to PC!
So if everything goes well, maybe there will be an extra mini-newsletter tomorrow or early next week revealing which console I'm porting it to (it could totally be anything...) and the date that the game releases on it. Let's hope it's soon!
I made a little video of the quack button
Finally, the most important news of the week. I was thinking about the quack button a few days ago, so I posted another little video of it on my blog:
Lots of people discovered that you can quack during gameplay, but you can also quack on the world map or even quack at other ducks during their story dialogue. That last one is my favorite thing about the quack button. Please quack politely when you play the game!
And that's everything for this week. I'm going to get back to my pre-launch vacation and I hope you enjoy Ducky's Delivery Service on July 20th!
