Ducky's Delivery Service is big in Japan! 3 hours left in the Steam sale!
Hello! I'm on vacation this week getting some much-needed rest. So this week's newsletter is a short one.
Thanks for supporting Ducky's Delivery Service!
I announced my second game Ducky's Delivery Service last week, and I really appreciate all of the support I've received since then. Thank you all so much for wishlisting the game and telling people about it! I had a feeling that people would think the ducks were cute, but I really didn't expect to hear from so many people out there who were hungry for a game that was inspired by Balloon Fight and Crazy Taxi. I'm glad I'm not the only person out there who still loves those kinds of games!
And just in case you missed last week's announcement, here's the game's trailer:
Because wishlisting the game on Steam is the best way to tell the Steam algorithm that people are interested in the game, I took a look at the wishlist stats to see if there was anything surprising in there. One thing that I didn't expect was that the current number one country in terms of wishlists is Japan, with 49% of the wishlists all by itself! The rest of the top countries are exactly what you would expect for a game with a store page that's only in English: United States, Canada, Germany, France, Australia and so on. But this was a good reminder that I should really get the game translated into more languages and look into the process of getting a console port approved for release in Japan (along with all the other regions).
I've been playing games!
During my time off, I've been replaying Astro Boy: Omega Factor for the first time in almost two decades. It's still one of my favorite Treasure games, and if you're a fan of hybrid beat-em-up/platformer games like Ragnarok Battle Offline or Dragon Marked For Death, I highly recommend it!
I've been playing Cotton Rock'n'Roll too, also known as Cotton Fantasy. It's got some great level design, and it's been giving me lots of ideas for what to do if I end up turning the old shooting game prototype for Ducky's Delivery Service into a game. I think a horizontal scrolling shoot em up with Ducky's Delivery Service physics could be fun, as long as all the enemy bullets were slow enough to give you time to accelerate out of their way! I'll think about this more a few months from now, so I don't distract myself from finishing Ducky's Delivery Service...
3 hours left to save 50% on Chessplosion!
The Steam sale ends at 10am pacific time, so there are 3 hours left to save 50% on Chessplosion on Steam and itch. Thank you to everyone who supported the game!
That's all for this week! I'm going to go back to playing Astro Boy: Omega Factor and getting some rest. I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to work on next week. Maybe I'll make the rest of the game's music, or try to finalize all of the story and menu text so I can hire some translators. See you next Thursday!
