Fun and Film at the LOC
If you're in the D.C. area and want some classic sci-fi horror (for the catharsis), the Library of Congress is screening The Quatermass Xperiment on Thursday, May 14 (Madison Building, doors open 6:30pm). They write:
After an experimental spaceship crash lands back to earth, the rescuers find there is something terribly wrong with its three-man crew. Based on the groundbreaking 1953 BBC TV series of the same name, "The Quatermass Xperiment" influenced the future work of a host of filmmakers and authors including John Carpenter, Stephen King, and James Cameron.... Richard Wordsworth received special praise for his role as the infected astronaut, with writer and film historian John Brosnan stating that "not since Boris Karloff as Frankenstein's monster has an actor managed to create such a memorable, and sympathetic, monster out of mime alone."
