🍎 citymeetings.nyc going on summer break

Summer Break & What to Expect in the Fall

Howdy!

If you haven't been paying close attention:

  • I didn't highlight the council's final exec. budget hearings last week.
  • Meetings have been published late recently.

May was an intense month for citymeetings.nyc due to budget season and for me, personally: I popped onto the job market for the first time in ~7 years running my business.

As of today, I find myself working on a product and team right here in Brooklyn, NY.

The good news:

  • citymeetings.nyc is here to stay as a free public service.

The inconvenient news:

  • The site is on break for the summer, starting now.
  • My plans for citymeetings.nyc PRO are on hold indefinitely.

The silver lining:

  • The site will be fully operational again in September.
  • I'll be rolling at least one PRO feature (the full video & transcript viewer), into a free logged-in-only feature for all who need it (yes, user accounts are coming).

Just for the summer, expect the following:

  • City council meetings won't be published through early September.
  • NYC Charter Revision Commission meetings will be up w/in 24 hours per our partnership.
  • A video & transcript viewer may be available sooner, mid-summer.

The site will be fully operational again in September. I'll send out 1-2 newsletters up until then.

I'm taking the summer to dive into my new gig and also make some important improvements to citymeetings.nyc without the pressure of regularly publishing meetings and newsletters.

My plan is to make it easier/more efficient for me to run on an ongoing basis so folks can benefit from it for years to come.

See you all again very soon!

Cheers,
Vikram
