Hi chimeric beings <3 happy springtime! The city is blooming and bursting. Yesterday, I spent a while listening to the trees shimmering in wind, laid on a bench in fidi watching the sun set, basked in the sun. In this time of renewal and regeneration, I have some chimeras collective offerings for you!

On Sunday, join us for another edition of Consumption Book Club at Index Greenpoint from 4-7pm. This time, we’re reading one of my all-time favorite books, Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer, and we have a cornucopia of offerings. We’ll be hands-on, learning how to make paper from food waste (re-generation!) while using said paper for a collaborative writing workshop (re-generation!). Also, such delicious food and drink awaits, courtesy of Colette’s devious mind — think savory croquembouche, swirly spring greens, shimmering cocktails, oh my! Lest I forget, we’re also once again making a recipe zine — this time with an exquisite corpse of writing/illustrating by myself, Mona, and Colette, alongside all the recipes for the delicious food we will be consuming. You will leave full of food and inspiration and paper and zines! Tickets are sliding scale $120-180, but if cost is an issue feel free to respond to this email and we can likely accommodate <3

Springtime also means new leaves emerging. I’ve been watching the maple outside my bedroom window move from bud to leaf with excitement. In celebration of this seasonal shift, and in order to create new relationships with the trees and parks of our city, I’m leading a couple of workshops called Leafing Out in Prospect Park, as a part of Jane’s Walk — a series of community-led walks all over NYC. Come join on May 2 or May 3 at 1pm, and delight in the wonders of spring leaves.

As we watch our city become greener and greener, that means more opportunities to be enchanted by the urban ecology of NYC. More to come: creaturely workshops, foraging forays, performance, a summer festival, more! See you soon ✿
