Chimeras Collective Chimeras Collective

Ho! The city swelters, sways, sweeps us all into whirlwinds. I hope this email finds you sheltered, shadowed by a towering tree, a favorite leaf. How delightful, recently, to see friends and strangers alike at Leafing Out in Prospect Park on May 1 & 2. There’s still a few zines scattered around my bedroom; just shoot me a message and I’ll bring you one the next time we rendezvous.

resilience. this could be us.

As you may know, part of the posture of Chimeras Collective is to connect us with our creature bodies, through projects like Becoming Creature and our embodied research practice. Days like today are what I like to call Creaturely Days: hard to avoid the sweaty, sticky senses that get us out of our minds and into our animal bodies.

If you, too, are interested in your own journey of creaturely becoming— if you, too, are interested in cyborgian collapse (and then, coherence)— if you, too, are curious to craft counter-narratives to AI accelerationism— come to the seven moons of the Luminescence Sculpture at Hunter’s Point Park in LIC on May 31 at 7pm. There will be a participatory performance party, and a moon ritual. You are invited to bring any forlorn tech with you: the laptops, iPhones, or other technological beings that no longer turn on but still occupy space in your life (and maybe under your bed). Ritual begins at 7:30pm—please don’t be late!

hope to see u there

Gathering, partying, worldbuilding — are you curious to explore these modes through study, and through practice? Then come sign up for The Party, a three week seminar on June 11, 18, and 25 at the Strother School of Radical Attention. We’ll examine the party as an art practice and political practice, giving it the serious attention it deserves as a form of becoming that offers radical and revolutionary possibility. Also, craft your own party ideas, find new parties to co-create with, and perhaps uncover a whole new way to gather ✿. I would love to see you there (btw: scholarships available!)

A final invite, to come to Studio Dem in Williamsburg on June 6 at 7:30pm for an opening of a gallery show: fractal convalescence, balancing technological acid. Curated by a dear friend, I will be showing some Creature ephemera arising from the May 31 ritual. Convalescing, indeed!
