100DaysOfTechStartup Week 1
This is an archived post of the first edition of this newsletter that was send on 2020-05-15.
Hey everyone !
Quick update on Chiffre.io: I have joined the #100DaysOfTechStartup challenge on Twitter. ππ
Turning a side project into a full-time product is hard, especially on the accountability part. It's a solo project, and I'll need all the help I can get on that front.
The 100 Days of Tech Startup challenge is an initiative by Simon LH and Simon GB from Denmark, they have setup a Slack channel where entrepreneurs and developers can come and talk about their startup and give each other support and tips. π
I'm planning to send a weekly summary of my progress on the project on Fridays, via this newsletter and on my Twitter account.
But first off, a quick introduction for those of you who left their email on a cryptic landing page, what is Chiffre.io ?
The short version: A privacy-first, end-to-end encrypted website analytics service.
The "why": When you want to get traffic and business metrics from your websites and webapps, you need to send this data to a service that will show you nice/insightful graphs. Unfortunately, the big player here (Google Analytics) also uses that to gain some insight about your visitors and your business. There are privacy-friendly alternatives, but none that guarantees that only you can see what happens on your apps. End-to-end encryption means I can operate a similar service, without ever having access to your metrics.
Back to progress report, here's what I've been up to last week:
- There were some issues on the signup page that needed immediate attention (thanks Simon and J. ! π)
- Code-wise: refactoring of the client state, removing a lot of quick'n'dirty code feels good π
- I posted the 100DoTS announcement on:
- I added preview graphs on the dashboard for the stats of the previous days:
Some stats about the project:
- There's now 11 of you signed up for the newsletter π
- The MVP has been running for 3 months now, and we're slowly approaching the 10k events:
That spike was not due to the announcements (unfortunately π ), but it helped me fix an issue with the tracker script to reduce spam and collect better metrics.
Next week, I'm planning to:
- Work on the landing page, to add some screenshots and features list
- Send you some alpha invites, so you can try Chiffre for yourself ! π
Cheers!
