Orientation · №000

The Catalog is a weekly collection of ideas, tools, and observations worth your attention. Here's why it exists and who's writing it.

You're subscribed to The Catalog. Every week I'll send a collection of ideas, observations, and things worth your attention.

This one is just an orientation. Issue №001 arrives next week, but since you're here, some background on why The Catalog exists and who's writing it.

FUNCTION

The Catalog works as a filter. As an experience strategist I read a lot, and I continually run across things that are useful or worth thinking about. Here's what you can expect in each issue:

  1. Signals worth paying attention to, and where to find them.
  2. New tools and patterns, with perspective on what I’m using to build new things.
  3. A detailed feature.
  4. Observations from the field.

PURPOSE

These days everything is moving at hyperspeed. We're creating and producing more content, with less certainty, than at any point we can remember. AI is fundamentally reshaping how work gets done, how content is produced, and how we communicate with each other, faster than we can keep up with.

In a fast moving environment, the hardest part can be deciding what deserves your attention.

In The Catalog I aim to capture what I've found this week that's worth learning, exploring, or watching, so you can start with a shortlist instead of sifting through noise.

WHO WRITES THIS

I've spent 20 years focused on the intersection of technology and creativity, the first stretch as a founding member of a touring rock band, and the last 15 in marketing technology consulting. I've advised some of the world's most recognized brands on how to turn digital experiences into measurable outcomes. Most recently I spent nine years at Sitecore, advising CMOs and CDOs on experience strategy and agentic AI.

I'm an Atlanta native with a creative edge. I'm passionate about music, systems thinking, and how emerging technology influences behavior both online and in the physical world.

See you next week,
Jonathan
