October '26 Newsletter
Cosmic horror submissions are open, October and November events are coming, and more!

Submissions are open!
It's that time again - submissions are now open on the theme of cosmic horror! Give us weird and horrifying tales of the unknown, in a universe beyond our comprehension.
We're accepting stories of 2,000 to 8,000 words from writers living in the North of England, until the toll of midnight on the 30th November.
Selected stories will be published in our third anthology, out Halloween next year.

Upcoming events
On Wednesday 21st October at 1-2pm, join us at Culture House Sunderland for a panel on careers in publishing, bookselling, and setting up your own literary projects, alongside other small local businesses.
We also have an event with Books on Tyne with our friends The Braag all about publishing SFFH as a small press! Join us for a characteristically weird and wonderful delve into the world of publishing on Thursday 26th November at 2pm, City Library, Newcastle. You can book tickets here.

Friends of Carnyx Press: Manchester Speculative Fiction
One of the networks who have helped spread the word about our call-outs is Manchester Speculative Fiction - a writing group focusing on science fiction, fantasy, horror, alternative history, and weird fiction. They hold two monthly workshops, one in Manchester city centre and another online, and have produced two speculative fiction anthologies set in the city: Revolutions and Revolutions 2.
Membership is open to all speculative fiction writers, not only Manchester residents - take a look and see what they're up to!
Visit their site here and contact the group at [email protected]
