June '26 Newsletter
Submissions are open, Oaths and Offerings is here in three days, and come to our launch events this week!

June is a busy month here at Carnyx! Our very first book, Oaths and Offerings, is published on the 4th, we're holding two launch events, and submissions have opened for our second anthology.
"Dig deep into landscapes and their legends" with our anthology of folkloric tales
It's almost here: our collection of strange, dark and playful tales is published this Thursday, and it's available to pre-order now through our online store.
We've brought together a fantastic mix of brand new fiction from writers living in the North, each with a unique take on the theme of folklore, bringing you a giddy blend of folk horror and fantasy, social realism and speculative fiction. We think you're really going to enjoy this one.

Come along to our Newcastle launch event
We're hosting our first ever launch event in our local patch at Newcastle Arts Centre, 7pm this Thursday 4th June!
Contributors Suzannah Evans Furnass and Emma J. Lannie will be reading their stories, followed by a discussion and Q&A. It's free, there'll be refreshments, and we'll of course have copies of the anthology available on the night.

We're at Leeds Lit Fest!
We're thrilled to be on the programme for Leeds Lit Fest with our Leeds launch of the anthology, where six of our lovely writers will be reading extracts from their stories, followed by discussions around writing and folklore and a chance to chat with us about all sorts of folky things. We'll be at Hyde Park Book Club, Leeds, 6pm this Sat 6th June. We'd love to see you there!
The festival is packed with loads of other fantastic events from poets, authors, and indie presses like ourselves. Check out the full programme.

Submissions open for sorcerous stories
The submission gates have opened! From now until the end of July, we're open to short stories of 2,000 to 8,000 words from writers living in the North of England.
We're looking for short fiction on the theme of sorcery: tales of magic and wonder, with a preference for strange and lyrical works that push the limits of genre and explore the theme in strikingly original ways.
