Reasons to be excited

Hey Button-buddies! (No? Fair.) If you're still here I'm assuming you want to hear about what’s going on chez Button. Which is awesome. Thanks for your support! Let’s get into, shall we?

Not convinced? Here are some reasons why I’m excited about The Custom of the Sea and why I think you should be too.
1. It's Regency. I love it. You love it. This game leans into the genre with romance and status mechanics, while adding a dash of class consciousness which is often neglected.
2. It's Horror. Our characters are castaways on a mysterious island controlled by a malevolent intelligence bent on their corruption and/or destruction. Are they well equipped to handle that? Almost certainly not. Unless it wants to play Whist.
3. Your character can get a bit spooky themselves. If you should be so reckless as to abandon propriety entirely the island will test you. If you fail, you die. But those who pass are rewarded.
4. There's so much room for you to contribute your own ideas. I'm seeing community content for this one: islands, encounters, romanceable NPCs. And yes, there will be an open license.
5. You can book onto a play test for FREE right now at tickets.buttonkin.com/events and get the rule set for free on the Discord: https://discord.gg/ktwChMdS
See you in Birmingham?
It’s fast approaching UK Games Expo time. I have been granted a corner stall which is what normal people would call “good news”. As has been brought to my attention several times: I’m not normal, so my terror of being perceived currently has my desire to sell lots of things by the throat. I will be there though. With nice big banners and also PINS.
That’s right, this year Button Kin is a Pin Collective provider. We’ll have 500 expo-exclusive pins in stock, and without spoiling they are way too cute. Pin Collective rules state I can sell you one for £5 but must also provide a way for you to acquire one for free. So I’ve come up with a little game I’m calling “Regency, but make it Horror”.
Want to know more? We’ll be at stand 4-223, aka stand 223 in Hall 4.
