Last Weekly Links of 2019
It’s almost the new year! Is it just me, or did this year feel like it blew by? I’ve been enjoying the holiday break as my company shuts down from xmas eve until the 2nd. Lots of books were read, and tons of tv was watched. You’d also better believe I ate a ton of tasty food. Xmas meant hot pot with friends—not a tree in sight. The night wore on, and we visited a friend’s house for desert and more drinking. I love having a cool neighbor.
With the end of the year nigh, a lot of these links are for languorous enjoyment and ensuring you enter the new year full of good food. Enjoy!
- One of the best ways to enjoy a good meal is to start with a walk whether you go out yourself or not. Craig released a longer two hour version for supporters, and I’ll just say it was a delight. If you want to support his writing, here’s how.
- Feeling hungry? Try some cheesy (or vegan cheesy in my case) rabboki. These rice cakes go so well with some seafood, kimchi, and cheese.
- If you want to see more delightful Korean food, I always watch this show around holiday time. It’s nominally an interview show, but is also an amazing view of Korean guys bonding, comedy, and food.
- I was super lucky to be present for one of the trips to eat at Sister with the delightful Soleil Ho. I love eating with her as it’s always vaguely secret, and always delicious. We’ve got a secret dinner next week too!
- While you prepare for your new year, be sure to enjoy a big bowl of Toshikoshi soba to wipe out the feelings from 2019. My friend Tomomi says that eating that much soba late at night isn't great for you, but January 1st is for resolutions and December 31st is for overindulgence, SO ENJOY!
- As you settle into a new year, you might enjoy an Osechi Ryori. While you settle in for some 2020 treats, and think about how you might want this near year to go, I recommend thinking about simplifying your life. Or don't! Either way, I hope you have a fantastic last few days of 2019~
