A BPD fantastic summer with many things to talk about!
It's been a hectic summer for the Black Python Devs crew! We've grown from 400 members just before PyCon to over 750!
Here's a great look at the things we've been working on.
Announcing The Black Python Devs Leadership Summit next month in Durham
This is a dream in the making!
Last year, a spark came in the form of amazing conversations at DjangoCon US. The guidance and excitement propelled us to our first 100 members in our discord. We're happy to head back to Durham, North Carolina, where much of our initial growth was started and share with our friends and team all the great things that have been happening.
Learn more about what we have planned for our leadership summit.
Also tickets are free if you're going to be in Durham, North Carolina on 21 September - Please register for the summit and join us for the community track.
All the Things we did this summer
Sponsorships and Support
We've been working on several sponsorships since an amazing fundraising campaign at PyCon US.
It started with a successful PyCon Nigeria with 75 student tickets purchased to support the conference and create amazing first time experiences.
We then announced and our multi-year partnership with PyOhio.
We also branch outside of conferences and worked with the team at Uncommon in Harare, Zimbabwe where our leaders and community members gave a Getting Started with Python Workshop.
What's Next
We are currently working with the team at PyCon Uganda to get 46 tickets to students around Kampala.
And we have at least 4 more conferences this year that we intend to sponsor across Africa.
You can also find us at DjangoCon US at our community booth!
