Welcome to the Miscellaneous Materials Reading Club Collection MM015.
Season 2 of Miscellaneous Materials continues. Going through all the stuff I collected in 2020 — but never sent!!! This is the 015th collection of semi-random documents known as “Miscellaneous Materials”
Current CO2 PPM: 414.26 ppm
MM015 was collected over May of 2020. Frankly, I have no memory of collecting any of these documents this time around... But! in looking back into the folder, woah, there are some cool things here:
- BTL 1962 Memo.pdf > An IBM technical paper from 1962 showing off some cool programming and novel technology from the time that produced printable computer graphics!
- gpp_guide_recs_offsets.pdf > A simple explanation to understand offsets vs. RECs in the climate space from the EPA.
- HowForestsThink.pdf > This was recommended to me by a former student, Calvin Hutcheon, but I've still never really gotten around to reading it -- I found the PDF floating around the internet one day... I guess I hoped I might be more likely to read it if I grabbed the pdf? Anyway, it's amazing and I can't wait to actually read it all rather than just skim a few sections.
- images/Black-footed_Ferret_Learning_to_Hunt.jpg > a photo of a black footed ferret hunting a prairie dog -- exciting.
- world_game_series_document1.pdf > Oh! A piece of the instructions (sort of) for how to try and run Buckmister Fuller's World Game!!?? Anyone know more? anyone want to try and run this for real virtually over the summer?
- And plenty of other great gems!
Oh! and the images in the images folder are either public domain, or use the "unsplash license" which is basically the same as public domain, so use them for something and don't worry about it!
I hope you enjoy at least something from this collection. Happy Reading/browsing.
