Sephora just launched a shopping app inside ChatGPT

Two new consumer AI agent launches today, plus a mixed hands-on review of Revolut's AI assistant in its newest market. Here's what happened.

New launches

Sephora becomes first beauty retailer to launch a shopping app inside ChatGPT

Sephora — the major LVMH-owned beauty and cosmetics retail chain.

Sephora launched an app inside ChatGPT (piloting in the US) letting shoppers ask natural-language beauty questions (e.g. "help me find a foundation for dry skin with a luminous finish") and get curated product recommendations drawn from Sephora's catalogue. Users can link their Sephora account to personalize suggestions based on profile/purchase history, get an AI-vision skin diagnosis from a selfie, and use loyalty rewards/member benefits inside the chat; checkout currently redirects to Sephora's own site, with in-app payment planned for a future update.

How to try it: In ChatGPT, open or search for the Sephora app and ask a beauty question, e.g. "Sephora, help me find a foundation for dry skin."

India's biggest cinema chain launches multilingual WhatsApp movie-booking assistant

PVR INOX — India's largest cinema chain, formed from the merger of PVR and INOX.

PVR INOX deployed "Movie Jockey" (MJ), an AI-powered WhatsApp chatbot built with Jio Haptik for movie discovery, ticket booking, add-on meal ordering, and real-time FAQ/agent support, with multilingual conversation across Hindi, English, Hinglish, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. It also handles accessibility questions (wheelchair-friendly shows, accessible seating, subtitle availability), with passport/voucher redemption and e-ticket cancellation in progress.

Revolut's AI assistant gets a mixed independent UX review in its newest market

Launched 6 days ago (September 2026): an independent UX review (Craft Innovations) of Revolut's AIR assistant — now rolling out to Revolut's roughly 8 million French customers — finds conversational AI reduces friction for feature discovery and complex workflows like eSIM purchases, but standard app navigation remains faster for everyday banking tasks. AIR shows strong context retention but largely functions as an instructional guide rather than an execution engine, and occasionally struggles with recipient discovery and complete data retrieval.
