Consumer AI Agent Tracker — 2026-08-24

Consumer AI Agent Tracker — August 24, 2026

Six new consumer-facing AI agent launches detected today, with good coverage of markets that have been thin in our record so far: Brazil, Australia, Japan, and Germany.

Enterprise launches

  • Itaú Unibanco (Brazil) — launched "ia.i" (E aí), a generative AI copilot built into its banking app as a floating icon, reachable by text, voice, or image. It answers natural-language questions about spending, explains products, and can execute transactions including Pix voice transfers. Rolled out to 300,000 customers on July 27, with a plan to reach the full customer base by year-end.
  • Banco Inter (Brazil) — upgraded its existing AI assistant "Seven" from a conversational FAQ agent into a transactional one on May 5. Customers can now complete Pix transfers, gift-card purchases, invoice installments, and automatic reinvestments purely through chat, rolling out across Inter's 43-million-customer base.
  • Macquarie Bank (Australia) — launched "Q" on January 19, a customer-facing conversational agent in its mobile and online banking, offering 24/7 natural-language support and handing off to a human specialist when needed. Built on Google's Gemini Enterprise platform.
  • SBI Sumishin Net Bank (Japan) — began beta testing an "agent" function for its NEOBANK ai app, a first for a Japanese bank. Customers give natural-language instructions (e.g. "transfer 10,000 yen to Tanaka") by text or voice, and the app dynamically generates the right transaction screen. Runs on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.
  • Commerzbank (Germany) — its "Ava" avatar, live since April 2025 and built on Microsoft Azure OpenAI, holds natural-language conversations for personalized banking advice and executes transactions directly in dialogue (e.g. ordering or blocking a card). By 2026, Commerzbank says Ava resolves roughly 75% of inquiries fully autonomously — a significant, ongoing deployment that hadn't previously made it into our record.

Platform launches

  • VoiceBit AI (United States) — a restaurant ordering/CRM platform for independent restaurants launched a ChatGPT integration built on OpenAI's Apps SDK. Diners can discover restaurants, browse menus, and complete a customized order entirely inside a ChatGPT conversation, under a zero-commission model for restaurants.

Follow-up sweep

No new independent reception coverage yet for yesterday's four launches (Endesa's "Lucía" on WhatsApp, Toast's Google Ask Maps ordering integration, Fresha's ChatGPT/Claude booking, and Enphase Energy's AI Assistant) — all are one day old and, so far, only their own launch announcements have surfaced. We'll keep checking.
