Birdsong Concerts: Sandy Scofield May 16th
Hello lovelies!
We still have a handful of seats left for the May 1st Fiddle and Banjo show with Dayna Pirso and Finley Rose. Send a message to houseconcerts@birdsongisland.ca if you want to RSVP for that show.
At the same time, we are taking RSVPs for our next show on May 16th! We are so honoured to welcome Sandy Scofield to Birdsong for an intimate evening of music.
Sandy Scofield is a Métis artist (Saulteaux and Cree) whose work spans folk, blues, rock, and traditional song. A powerful and versatile vocalist, she moves easily between delicate, intimate songwriting and rhythm-driven, full-bodied performance. Her music carries both emotional depth and cultural resonance, grounded in a lifetime of creative exploration.
Sandy’s recordings have received national recognition, including a Western Canadian Music Award and multiple Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, as well as a Juno nomination. She has performed widely at major festivals across Canada and beyond, and has collaborated with and opened for artists such as Buffy Sainte-Marie and Tom Jackson.
Beyond the stage, her work extends into theatre, film, and large-scale cultural events, including composition and sound design for dance and opera, and contributions to the 2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies. She is also a dedicated mentor, supporting emerging Indigenous artists in developing their craft.
This will be a rare chance to experience Sandy’s voice and presence up close in the listening space of Birdsong.
