This Old Pony: Running Django apps in the Wild

The "This Old Pony" newsletter grew from a "legacy Django" focused independent consulting practice and morphed into a production, SaaS (and Django!) focused exploration.

After a short hiatus it is once more up and running, focused on tactics, strategies, and tradeoffs in developing and deploying production SaaS applications through a Django-tinted lens.

Upcoming and previous topics

  • The problems with fat models
  • Hands-on comparison of PaaS (platform as a service) Python deployment
  • Using PostgreSQL views for fun and profit
  • A taxonomy of Django architecture patterns
  • Reconsidering the meaning of test coverage
  • Test breadth and depth
  • So, so much more!!

What are people saying?

Awesome newsletter from @bennylope about the reasoning behind whether to rewrite or not rewrite a large project with an analogy to top-down city planning. Really been enjoying Ben's newsletter about sane legacy software maintenance.

Thanks, David!

If you've ever used Django and you aren't subscribed to the "This Old Pony" newsletter from [@bennylope], I think you might be missing out. This week: The Database vs. Pandas.

Thanks, Peter!

I'm glad you're keeping busy, and I hope people like your newsletter. Love you.

Uh, thanks mom.
