Update and This Week!

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all doing well. Not too much has been happening lately regarding the county. Pat and I are thinking of requesting a meeting with Bergen County Executive James Tedesco. I’ll let you know if we are able to set something up. We really need more people to participate in the meetings. If you would like me and/or Pat to come to a council meeting in your town, let us know. Hopefully we’ll make some new connections later this month at the Overpeck Park Earthfest.

Updates:

I spoke at the Bergen County Commissioners Meeting last week.  Got a lame and confusing response from the County Administrator.  That’s Bergen County Executive James Tedesco sitting right behind me.  Check it out here: https://fb.watch/rUyleaGYX-/ from 46:30.

This week:

Monday 5/6/24:

Leonia Town Council Meeting 7:30 PM Virtual Option!

Leonia Mayor Ziegler expressed interest in endorsing our letter of support to the County Commissioners but it seems that they haven’t done anything about it yet.  It’s also not on their agenda for tonight.  Join me in reminding them of the importance having a county-wide Complete and Green Streets policy AND in establishing a county-wide pedestrian safety advisory committee.

  • Dial-in Number: +1 (312) 757-3121 and Access Code: 979-076-909

Tuesday 5/7/24:

Fair Lawn Town Council Work Session 7:30 PM

Borough Hall 8-01 Fair Lawn Avenue Fair Lawn, NJ 07410

I never actually got to speak at their meeting last month.  I’ll head over to speak with them at the work session.  I already emailed them with our letter of support to the county.  No virtual option.

Wednesday 5/8/24

Closter Town Council Meeting 7-8 PM Virtual Option!

Closter Borough Hall 295 Closter Dock Rd, Closter, NJ 07624

I spoke at their meetings twice (Pat once) and shared our information with them.  The mayor wasn’t averse to signing our letter but they just don’t seem very interested (in anything, actually).  I’ll join and encourage them to endorse our letter.

I rearranged our letter of support a little.  I think it reads much better.  I will update it a little more still to add stormwater mitigation and shade trees.  It’s useful for preparing comments.

Here are some talking points if you are thinking of making some public comments.

I think that’s it for this week.  I’ll keep you posted with any updates.

I hope you can speak at one or more of the meetings.  We really need some more support.

Stay vigilant and visible!

Chris
