Central SoMa's 725 Harrison Site Asks Planning Commission for 18 More Months — and Takes a Promised Affordable Housing Parcel With It

The sponsor of a key Central SoMa office tower appeared before the Planning Commission on September 24 seeking an extension that would push its nearly one-million-square-foot approval to March 2028, while a land parcel meant to produce 144 affordable homes waits alongside it.

One of the linchpin development sites of the 2018 Central SoMa Plan returned to the San Francisco Planning Commission on Thursday, September 24 — not to break ground, but to ask for more time. The sponsor of the approved project at 725–765 Harrison Street requested an 18-month extension of its Large Project Authorization to March 24, 2028, under items 7a, 7b and 7c on the commission's agenda. Planning staff recommended approval with conditions.

Treasure Island's Proposed Unit-Count Expansion Heads Toward Board of Supervisors — Developer Wants Sign-Off Before End of 2026

A revised plan to add as many as 2,800 homes to Treasure Island's approved build-out — pushing the total to 10,800 units — is moving through city channels as the development's first phase, centered on the newly opened 490 Avenue of the Palms, shows the neighborhood beginning to take shape.

Treasure Island Community Development is pushing for Board of Supervisors approval before the end of 2026 on a revised plan that would increase the island's total housing count by as much as 35 percent, from 8,000 homes to as many as 10,800, according to a February 2026 TIDA board document. The revised proposal, discussed in a January 30 San Francisco Chronicle report, aims to capitalize on momentum the island has built over the past several years. That momentum is visible.

Giants Close Out the Season at Oracle Park with Fan Appreciation Weekend and a Final Farewell to Broadcaster Mike Krukow

The San Francisco Giants host the Los Angeles Dodgers this weekend in the team's last three home games of 2026, with the Willie Mac Award ceremony tonight, a Fiesta Gigantes celebration Saturday, and broadcaster Mike Krukow's final game Sunday.

Oracle Park hosts the San Francisco Giants' final homestand of the 2026 regular season this weekend, a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers running from Friday through Sunday. The team was eliminated from playoff contention on September 6 following a loss to the New York Mets — the fifth consecutive season without a postseason appearance — but the weekend carries its own significance for the ballpark's Mission Bay neighbors and the wider fan base.
