Warfield Commons Opens on Market Street, Giving Mid-Market a Permanent Home for Arts and Media
KALW Public Media and Community Arts Stabilization Trust open a nine-floor hub at 988 Market St. on September 27, anchoring independent journalism and cultural organizations in the heart of Mid-Market.
A century-old building at 988 Market Street will open its doors to the public this Sunday as Warfield Commons — a reimagined, nine-floor hub for arts, independent media, and civic organizations that its backers say can help drive Mid-Market's long-sought revival. The free grand opening runs noon to 5 p.m. on September 27, hosted in collaboration with Community Arts Stabilization Trust (CAST), the Tenderloin Community Benefit District, and the Mid-Market Business Association & Foundation.

Supervisors to Vote on Tenderloin Dog Safety Resolution as Bite Toll Reaches 74 This Year
The full Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote this week on Supervisor Mahmood's resolution requiring city housing sites to track dog registrations and report attacks — a response to a surge of bites that has hit the Tenderloin harder than any other San Francisco neighborhood.
The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a resolution introduced by District 5 Supervisor Bilal Mahmood that would require city-funded shelters and supportive housing sites to maintain registration and vaccination records for resident dogs and report any bites or attacks to the San Francisco Police Department's Vicious and Dangerous Dog Unit through the city's Good Neighbor complaint system. If passed, enforcement is expected to begin next year.

The San Francisco Symphony launched its 115th season on Thursday, September 24, with an Opening Gala at Davies Symphony Hall featuring violinist Hilary Hahn alongside guest conductor Giancarlo Guerrero. The evening also served as a preview of a season the orchestra is framing as a bridge year — its last before music director designate Elim Chan takes the podium in 2027.
