Planning Commission Approves Therapy Stores on Clement Street — Merchants Vow to Appeal

The city voted unanimously to grant a formula-retail permit to the gift-shop chain, but the Clement Street Merchants Association is weighing a Board of Supervisors appeal.

San Francisco's Planning Commission voted unanimously Thursday to grant a conditional use permit allowing Therapy Stores to open a new location at 32 Clement St. near Second Avenue in the Inner Richmond — a decision that immediately deepened a months-long rift between the chain's owner and the neighborhood's small-business corridor. The dispute turned on a technicality of city zoning law.

Judge Issues Restraining Order in Sea Cliff Deed-Fraud Case as Both Suspects Skip Hearing

Two people accused of forging deeds to seize a $4-million Sea Cliff home failed to appear in court Thursday, prompting a judge to bar any sale of the disputed property.

A judge issued a temporary restraining order Thursday blocking the sale of a disputed Sea Cliff property after neither defendant accused of deed fraud appeared in court — the latest development in what city officials have called one of San Francisco's most unusual property disputes. The case centers on a home at 250 32nd Ave. valued at more than $4 million. Over 14 months, the property was deeded eight times, passing back and forth between two individuals, both of whom have felony convictions for identity theft.

SFUSD Backs Down on Richmond Neighborhood Center Site — For Now

After a community mobilization and a packed school-board meeting, the district confirmed it will not solicit developers for the 30th Avenue property that has housed the decades-old nonprofit.

The San Francisco Unified School District quietly dropped plans to solicit developer bids for the site of the Richmond Neighborhood Center at 741 30th Ave. last month, following an organized community push that included days of emails, calls, letters, and a standing-room hearing at the school board on September 8. The center has operated on district-owned land in the Outer Richmond for decades, serving more than 6,000 youth, families, and seniors and partnering with 12 SFUSD schools.
