D8 Supervisor Race Upended: Yekutiel Drops Out After New Assault Allegations, Leaving McCoy With Clearer Path

The presumptive front-runner for the Castro, Noe Valley, and Glen Park seat quit the race Thursday after a San Francisco Standard investigation surfaced two more accusers — and an avalanche of lost endorsements followed within hours.

Manny Yekutiel suspended his campaign for San Francisco's District 8 Board of Supervisors seat on Thursday, October 1, hours after the San Francisco Standard published an investigation in which two men said he groped them at a Pride party in 2023. The withdrawal ended what had been widely viewed as a dominant candidacy: Yekutiel had the endorsement of Mayor Daniel Lurie, multiple city supervisors, and the local Democratic Party going into the final weeks before the November 3 election.

52nd Castro Street Fair Takes Over the Neighborhood This Sunday With 'Where We Belong' Theme

The annual free festival founded by Harvey Milk returns October 4 with live stages, hundreds of vendors, and a new visual identity — and Muni warns of significant street closures starting at 2 a.m.

The 52nd Castro Street Fair fills Castro and Market Streets this Sunday, October 4, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entry is free, with a suggested donation of $10–$20 at the gate to support the fair's nonprofit beneficiaries. This year's theme, "Where We Belong," celebrates the Castro as a place of connection, visibility, joy, and chosen family — a spirit organizers say has defined the fair since Harvey Milk founded it in 1974. The 2026 visual identity was created by artist Ece Kalabak, with graphic design by Özgür Baltutan.

Glen Park Takes Center Stage in SF's First-Ever 'Walktober' Festival All Month

The Crosstown Trail's inaugural citywide walking festival has more than 40 guided outings lined up for October, with Glen Park serving as a hub for a canyon history walk, a pub crawl, a five-stairway tour, and a Bird & Beckett talk.

San Francisco's Crosstown Trail has launched Walktober, a first-of-its-kind citywide walking festival for October 2026, and Glen Park is among the neighborhoods most prominently featured. Organized by the Crosstown Trail in partnership with Glen Park Beautiful's SF Stairway Month and dozens of other community groups, the festival lists more than 40 guided walks traversing the entire city. Several walks are rooted in or pass through Glen Park. The Crosstown Trail Pub Crawl on October 6 starts at Glen Park BART Station.
