Brave New Capital: Look what you did!
Update on how your pre-order has helped build momentum for the book!
Hi friend!
Thank you so much for pre-ordering Brave New Capital. Genuinely, thank you.
Where we've got to: 581 copies pre-ordered!
Every single order matters, but your support as an Amplifier is one of the reasons we're now in a position to go out to publishers at all. A pre-sale is only as convincing as the commitment behind it, and backing at this level is exactly the kind of signal that makes people take a book seriously. Thank you. It genuinely means the world.
A couple of years ago, when I first had conversations with publishers about this book, I kept running into the same wall: they classified it as an academic book. Partly my academic affiliations, partly the fact that Palgrave published Adventure Finance. But I knew it wasn’t an academic book, and I knew I didn't want to go down that road again (le sigh..). So I decided to just write it and figure the rest out later.
Then, a few weeks ago, one of our Innovative Finance Initiative members with publishing experience got in touch and gave me some genuinely great advice (thank you, Guy!): use a pre-sale itself to prove there's an appetite for the book. He told me 500 copies in a pre-sale is something of a magic number for publishers. So that became the goal. Alongside finishing the book, Erinch and I built what we needed to do a pre-sale and decided to give it a few weeks.
And now? We’ve exceeded that goal days after the public launch.
So here's what happens next: with pre-sales this strong, we're going to re-approach a few traditional publishers. The higher the number, the more demand it demonstrates, and the better the chance of a larger publisher picking it up. We will try our best not slow down production, but if a publisher takes real interest, it could mean far wider distribution than we could manage alone. We'll keep you posted on timing as it develops.
In the meantime, the single most useful thing you could do is share it, on social media or directly with someone who'd care. It would mean the world. We've put together a media pack to make it easy.
We’ll be in touch as soon as we have more news about publication (and probably before then to share a bit more about the process!).
Thank you for being part of this!
