Pinning, Present, Are.na Annual launch party, and more
Hi, how are you feeling today? Where we (some of us at least) are, it’s raining for the first time in a while. We’re becoming the old person meme: “we really needed this.”
We’re listening to this song called “Sunday” by Annahstasia, nice for a rainy day. As always, wondering about the conditions where you are, what you’re thinking about, and hows it’s all feeling.
Pinning and present available to Premium

You might have already noticed, but pinning and present are now available to all Premium members. Add these to the long list of reasons to upgrade to Premium if you haven’t already. The list is growing longer by the day.
And if you’re the type to think about gifts, especially during the start of Gift Guide season, remember that you can always give the gift of Premium, either to yourself, or to a loved one. Say it with Gift Card.
NYC Are.na Annual Launch

If you’re in New York City on December 13, we hope you’ll join for the launch party for this year’s Are.na Annual, themed “document.” We’ll be celebrating the release of the anthology at HEART (442 Broadway), with readings by Finnegan Shannon, Gerardo Ismael Madera, Reuben Son, and Megumi Tanaka. There will be early copies of the book for sale and custom drinks by Megan Pai and Cammie Lee.
We’re really excited to finally share with you our sixth (!) Are.na Annual, which we’ve been working on for the better part of the year, and which contains a lot of brilliant writing from the people on Are.na. We’re also psyched to be launching it at HEART, Maya Man’s new artist-run project space supporting artists engaging with software and in the internet. RSVP for the party below and look out for the book in the Are.na Store once they’re available to order next month.

Channel Walkthrough with Somnath Bhatt
Even if you’re not in New York, there will still be a chance to gather next month: our next Channel Walkthrough event is featuring artist and designer Somnath Bhatt, who will take us through his channel “Desirability Politics.”
The event will take place online on Thursday, December 5 at 5pm est/ 2pm pst.
RSVP and we’ll send you a link to join, as well as a reminder closer to the time.
An Interview with Yatú Espinosa

New on Are.na Editorial, we published an interview with Yatú Espinosa (Teal, USB Club), as a part of our It’s Not Business, It’s Personal series. Charles Broskoski spoke to Yatú about creative decision making, designing environments for continual learning, and language as the ultimate form of augmentation.
Previous interviews in this series, which consists of conversations with people whose careers we find fascinating, include Emily Segal, Malte Müller, and Margaret Lee.
Web Residency at Akademie Schloss Solitude

And lastly, Are.na’s Charles Broskoski is pairing up with friend of Are.na Mindy Seu to curate the 12th call for web residencies at Akademie Schloss Solitude. For this year’s residency, called “Tools for Citation,” they are looking for proposals that speak to knowledge sharing and citation in the (post)digital age. The residency encourages artists to “delve into associative trails, transdisciplinary thinking, and collaborative processes in and between analogue and digital networks and worlds to explore the practices of citation.”
The six project proposals selected will be rewarded with an online residency and a grant of 1,200 euros. Read more about the process here and get in your proposals by December 15, 2024 at midnight UTC.

As always, you can check out our roadmap page which goes into the features we're building, our long-term goals, and our current numbers.
There are so many places you can spend your attention, and we’re touched that you spent it reading this letter.
Hope you’re taking care.
