Another Subculture - September issue + this week's loud noises
The grid of gigs. September's Another Subculture is now available.
This month, having had a break (and moving house and going to the first IRL events in 18 months), we've got a calendar, some lovely illustrations from the legend Toby Evans-Jerra (illustrator for many an event around London, including this Sister Midnight fundraiser, alongside being part of Speed Training) and about 27 or so gigs for you to consider. The back this month has reviews of Concrete Culture, Gob Nation's all dayer, Nicky's Avalon debut and that survey for you to actually fill in.
In typical style the riso version is being printed now, and will be mailed out to every Patreon subscriber and any of you who fancy buying one online and supporting the endeavour. Otherwise, find them IRL at your favourite stockist soon, and if you are going to tonight's Trash Kit gig there might be some contraband work printer copies winging their way to the merch stand. Who knows!
As ever, the caveat: we are still in pandemic time. Many of the venues which are hosting these gigs will not let you in without proof that you are COVID-free, and there are continued reports of vaccine passports making their way to the UK. Take your mask with you, take a lateral flow, stay at home if you're at all at risk of having the virus and be good to everyone both at the gig and to anyone who is understandably worried about going.
Speaking of that: A Cellarful of Noise, a grand punk radio show on Thamesmead's RTM, has compiled PUNKS ON TAPE, a big list of at home punk video - for once it's a relief to see so much footage being taken at this pivotal time.
