AnimeChicago is Blooming with Great Spring Events! Even when the weather is garbage…
Hey, good to see you again!
Like so many delayed anime titles, it’s been a minute since our last newsletter. We’ve been swamped running some of our best events and initiatives ever, with even grander plans right around the corner. Take a look…
Latest from AnimeChicago
C2E2 Wrap – Our booth at C2E2 was a fantastic success. We invited community participation with Story Walls: big boards asking compelling questions like “Poorly Describe an Anime in 5 Words or Less” and “Give us your favorite Anime Gem.” Fans flocked by to read, discuss, and slap their answers on sticky notes. We also ran two panels, including a live recording of Anime’s Game Changers . Look for this podcast episode soon!
Anime Circle: Celebrations – April’s meetup was our best attendance in years. Instead of discussing one title, we celebrated Superhero anime as a whole. Stay tuned as we try more ways to bring great anime conversations to our members.
Melanated & Animated – We’ve teamed up with the Japanese Arts Foundation, Logan Theatre, Suntory, and I Play Games for a night exploring the intersection of Black and Japanese culture! Join us for a screening of Afro Samurai, panel discussion, cocktails, music, and games. Get your tickets now.

Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume had a strong showing at box offices across the globe. But believe it or not, the film’s romantic angle wasn’t what Shinkai initially had in mind.
Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno’s live-action Shin Kamen Rider film gets a one-day only screening in the US on May 31st .
Studio Ghibli Fest returns for an entire year of your favorite family-friendly anime films in theaters.
Ever wondered if non-anime titles like Space Jam are isekai ? We now have definitive results.
We hope to see you at an event soon!
