Occasional links - 18.06.2023

Hello,

It's sunny here in the UK so I'm sheltering at my favourite cafe down the road from the flat sorting out a few things for work and pasting in lots of lovely things I wanted to share this week. I'm quite keen to delete my Twitter profile thanks to it 'being under new management' but sadly I find most of these interesting things there.

Hope you've had a good week and a pleasant and relaxing weekend. Here are ten things you might like to dip into when you're next

Succession if it was a Taylor Swift music video
Maybe Succession wasn’t really about who ends up as CEO, but the friendships that were made along the way.
Perfect in every way.

You might like to spend some time with Mike Festiva
Lots of lovely things about buying and updating a 1990 JDM Suzuki Carry 4WD Kei mini truck.
Thanks to Vaughan for the link.

Derek Guy
I've learnt so much about tailoring, fashion, clothing quality, and so much more. If you're on Twitter he's a must follow in my opinion. He's also brilliant at roasting some of the less savoury characters on the internet.

How grubby is your local grub?
Taking all the data points of failed hygiene inspections in the UK and plotting them on a map, so you know which ones to avoid. Updates regularly using official Food Standards Agency data. Use the menu on the top left to change the type of establishment.
Thanks to Nicola for the link.

Fat Bike caught on an Electric Fence!
If you're in need of a giggle today then this one from six years ago still amuses.

*Mind-blowing* new NASA video showing CO2 emissions from the burning of fossil fuels...
...as if they were visible to the human eye

HUDS + GUIS
HUD = Head Up Display / GUI = Graphic User Interface.

Most films make up futuristic looking interfaces for the computers and kit they use. This site collects them for your viewing pleasure. Original post here. One of my favourites is for Severance and I cannot wait for series 2 to arrive.

We have nuclear-powered rovers ON MARS taking Ansel Adams-style landscapes every day.
From this original Tweet.

Earnest Friday Fiver
A weekly series of five interesting links from a friend's agency. It's a LinkedIn link but if you use that service it's well worth following their page so you see their weekly links.

Siegfried & Joy
Utterly joyful and ridiculous seeing these two play with the gold disappearing sheet trick in an obviously hammy and amateur way, making lots of folks smile in the process.

That's all for this week. See you again soon hopefully.

Love as always,

Andy x
