A Girl in Want of a Blanket Fort

It’s one of those weeks where I’m excited about so many things (book launch on the 21! poetry panel in Philly on the 23 with Eric Smith et al.! cool blog post dropping on the 21! Signing preorders next weeeeeeeeeeek!), but life is…being a bit of a jerk, honestly.

So, it’s such a strange mix of YAY and UGH, and I’m not sleeping well, which does not help. Muddling through as best I can, but if there was an option to just build a blanket fort and take a nap for, like, a whole day? I would take that in a heartbeat.

Sometimes, life is very much like that—a clash of feelings and a warring heart. You do what you can—preferably caffeinated.

The world, somehow, keep getting more and more infuriating. You’ve likely seen the news ad nauseum, so I’m not going to rehash The Horrors. But maaaaaaan, it sure does make life harder, but it also makes me more stubborn. There are so many good and wonderful people out in the world trying. And as I come from a long line of stubborn women, I’ll keep trying too.

And now, a question for you, dear readers: what would you like to see more of here? Any questions you’d like me to answer? Topics you’d like to me to cover? Topics you’d like me to shut up about?

Sometimes, it feels like I’m shouting into the void.

Oh, one more thing — did you miss what the LOVELY Deanna Raybourn had to say about Offerings for Ordinary Gods? Allow me:

An speaking of poetry, THIS is when you need to hurry off to pre-der the GORGEOUSLY WONDERFUL poetry collection from Ali Trotta called OFFERINGS FOR ORDINARY GODS, out Jul 21. I got my hands on an advance copy of this one and I devoured it. It tis LUSCIOUS. (I'm deeply honored that my quote made the back cover!) I've known Ali for years as a gifted poet and a fiercely loyal friend, and I'm beyond thrilled for her that she's finally getting a long-overdue debut.
Did I cry? MAYBE. (Yes.)

Until next time, kittens — XOXO

PS: I’m OBSESSED with Amanda Seyfried singing Joni Fucking Mitchell annnnnnd Fleetwood Mac songs:
