Celebrate the fog...and what comes next

HELLO MY DEAR FRIENDS!

Oh what an Airhorn that was! Foghorn was a big swing for us, a full two-hour, two-act play with the densest lore we've given you, multiple music numbers, and five different deaths. What a fantastic crowd y'all were and we are endlessly grateful that you are continually so game for these mad creations. We love shooting for the stars, and your laughter is our...space gun? We are the bullets, you hold the gun. You are shooting at the sky, and we love blasting from your barrel of laughter toward that old enemy outer space, permanently pock-marking the moon. I am so confused on this analogy! We love pushing the envelope and love that you love watching the envelope be pushed?! That makes less sense! What is the envelope? What is it that we are sending?

What I am trying to say is that we appreciate you. You make us feel like this Miguel song. If you be the cash, we'll be the rubber band! You be the match and we'll be the fuse. Boom!

Wanna see some photos?

We were lucky to have Afrina Razi back taking photos of Foghorn, and she captured it so beautifully. This newsletter is largely an excuse to share some of her photos with you.

Check these out!

The memory foam chorus (Alayne, Mog, and Mo), in purple wigs and wrapped in shiny teal robes look out behind a podium while FOGHORN is displayed prominently behind them, shrouded in a fog I mean, look at this!

Candid shot of NCC lounge with irish musicans in the foreground playing music while audience members amble about in the background and we had some incredible musicians from the Welsh Dragon Tuesday Sessions playing beautiful celtic music for you.

the cast of airhorn mid-dance in front of a tavern backdrop Our humble village danced for you.

lily dressed as a seapunk siren, in front of a cardboard ligthouse Our siren tempted you!

booth as a bedraggled farmer waving a beautiful fan, dancing, while a tiny sheep stands beside them Our shy farmer performed so many feats for you!

Alayne dressed as a sea-farer, holding a strange message upside down, while Jak watches intently. both in front of a misty cliff backdrop. We had dramatic moments with sea captains and poets.

Jak in a beautiful gown holding hands with a fully personified fog, dressed in puffy white (it's booth) I mean look at this! A moment that presaged a legitimately moving dramatic turn in the second act!

Jerome in sea captain uniform regaling the crowd while Mo, in shadows, watches in the background Our newest castaway shared his incredible story.

Zach shaking dramatically hile holding the cardboard lighthouse. We had a dramatic play within the play within the Airhorn where I was shocked by lightning.

Oli birthing a baby doll from his head while Lesa kneels besides, screaming And Ben the lighthouse keeper aged, died, and birthed himself as a baby while Donna screamed!

Alayne plays a kazoo with one outstretched hand and woide, woeful eyes We played beautiful kazoo for you.

Zach holds a banjo in one hand and downs a bottle of pills in another And beautiful banjo for you.

Mog as old man steps forward into the crowd with a befuddling smile. Behind them the screen shows a rocky jetty and bright yellow text saying 'Fog, say hello to Grandpa' We had touching moments of audience interaction.

Lesa in front of a busy Newtown street, both hands on her cheek, looking shocked right before saying 'mamma mia!' And the entire thing took place in the Mamma Mia extended universe? You know it!

the full cast, arms clasped and raised above our heads, about to bow, while behind the screen says 'may i forget you slowly' Thank you all again for being such super troupers for this thing we legitimately, up to 10 mins into the show, did not know if we'd be able to pull off!

Now what's next?!

Our next Airhorn will be August 7th. Our initial plan for this show did not work out. Sincerely, it involved a grant for us to purchase $6k worth of steel, and the grant was politely declined...(but we will try again!). So, as a backup, we had the Foghorn audience decide through our Airhorn Randomizer our next show. And the audience decided for GEARHORN. This is Airhorn doing Top Gear! A nostalgic, yet scathing, parody of everyone's favourite 2010's car show!

Tickets are live for it now, but honestly i'd be stressed out if i booked tickets to a show 4 months in advance. Understand if you hold off! We'll remind you of it closer to the event too!

Until then, we have some great upcoming shows for you!

Finally. Since there's a bit of a break before the next Airhorn, I wanted to share some upcoming shows Airhorn performers are doing. My assumption is that if you like Airhorn you will also like the shows made by the people of airhorn. I hope my assumption is safe!

  • Lesa and I have our duo show "Zach And Lesa Bought a Gun". My first fest show!
  • Lily Catastrophe is putting on "Little Sister" her first standup hour!
  • Oliver Pol brings you "Featherbrained". I've seen it, it's incredible!
  • Ginge and Minge bring you "REDEMPTION" a delightful and popular improv sketch spectable. Spectacle.
  • Mo Munn and Q Potts perform "Driving me Crazy". Their chemistry is undeniable!

And if you are in Auckland, reading this newsletter from afar, check out:

  • Booth's amazing show "Kissing Booth". I've seen this too and it is a box of delights!
  • Jerome Chandrahasen's "Loose as a Goose" He may have the quickest wit I've ever seen!

LASTLY! Myself and DJ BBGUN are putting on a FILM FESTIVAL next month, at the Newtown Community Center.

Motern Media Movie Marathon is a 12 hour celebration of the incredible, criminally obscure American film-makers Matt Farley and Charlie Roxburgh. Their film "Magic Spot" was a direct inspiration on Foghorn, and if you love the DIY creativity of Airhorn you'll love these beautiful, family-led comedy films with small budgets but gigantic heart. It's free!

Thank you for reading this big email

A lot of words to say we appreciate you. Even when the sky comes falling. Even when the sun don't shine. I got faith in you and I, so put your pretty little hand in mine.

Sincerely, ZACH!
