We Need a Pause on AI
Welcome to the April 2026 newsletter for PACES Vancouver! A lot has been in the works since the last newsletter.

We Need a Pause on AI in Schools
Despite 350 people signing our previous petition, and overwhelming scientific evidence about the dangers of AI to students, the Vancouver School Board is continuing their plans to put Copilot in schools.
It is clear that we need to make a larger change.
We have launched a new petition, demanding that the Ministry of Education and Child Care enact a two-year pause on AI usage in classrooms in British Columbia.
This means that for two years, in schools in BC:
- Students will not use generative AI in classrooms.
- Students will not use generative AI for homework.
Make your voice heard and sign the petition on Action Network.
Fundraiser for Advertising Costs for Pause AI Campaign
To support our new petition we would like to run a poster campaign. Our previous campaign to Voice AI Concerns to Vancouver School Board gained 350 signatures, and many people who heard about it did through the poster campaign.
For the new petition, we are aiming to raise $500 to spread the word.
Below you can see the design of the poster.

If you have $10 or so to spare, it would really help us out.
