Tarot #20. Judgment♎

Path #20 in the journey of the Tarot Major Arcana. The Last Judgment!

Calling all souls!

The angel's trumpet sounds and the dead rise from their graves, arms outstretched to the sky. Change of position, renewal, outcome -- The Last Judgement is the great awakening, the call of divine fire (Shin) that resurrects the spirit within matter and demands we answer for what we have become. Reversed: Weakness, pusillanimity (timidity), simplicity, also deliberation, decision, sentence. Judgments are final.

UPRIGHT: Change of position, Renewal, Outcome, Awakening

REVERSED: Weakness, Pusillanimity, Deliberation, Sentence

The Last Judgment is the revelation of the supernal, the reality of a divine connection transpiring right before you. After the journey has been had and the morning’s security assumed, the realization, the boon, the elixir, the contact from God {or the future ever-after} arises before the Hero in order to sanctify him and his quest at its end. Here is a card of glorious magnanimity but also just that: Judgment. You shall see what you have become, for better or worse, at The End. As Heraclitus said, “A man’s character is his fate.”

On the journey, the hero gains the meaning, sees God, earns redemption, without any further adieu...

Bottom Line: When Judgment Day arrives, go in awe of the transformations to come, without and within.

Tree of Life Path: Hod ⟷ Malkuth. Splendor x Kingdom: Communication producing the Earth; architecture as the microcosm divine linking substance to the heavenly kingdom; the glory of life manifesting and embraced in a vital sidelong way.

A.E. Waite quote: “It should be noted that all the figures are as one in the wonder, adoration and ecstasy expressed by their attitudes. It is the card which registers the accomplishment of the great work of transformation in answer to the summons of the Supernal--which summons is heard and answered from within…What is that within us which does sound a trumpet and all that is lower in our nature rises in response--almost in a moment, almost in the twinkling of an eye? Let the card continue to depict, for those who can see no further, the Last judgment and the resurrection in the natural body; but let those who have inward eyes look and discover therewith.”
