Just be yourself.
Drawing and painting keep me alive.

Hey folks,
It’s been a while. I was out of town for a bit to see family and on the way there we got into a car accident. Everyone is ok, the car not so much. We still ended up having great connections with friends and family. It’s not something I necessarily wanted to bring up. The reason I am is because I felt beside myself when I got back even though there were silver linings. The nervous systems took a hit. Luckily, I had an acupuncture appointment already setup upon my return.
I say all this to point out that although deadlines loomed and tasks needed to be done it was just as important to take my time and rest when I needed to. Creating in the studio can be a vulnerable space. I also wanted to be heart ready and open to write.
One task was to finish painting a bowling pin for a show called Second Frame for Mission Bowling Club in the neighborhood. Mission Bowling bought new pins and had a call to artists to repurpose the old pins as artworks. I love bowling and was so happy to be included. The challenge was the shape and the material. I ended using spray paint and acrylic pens to create my piece. I learn so much when I get to work with a new medium. I had a lot of fun with it and feel happy that I love what I made.
I also got my calendar organized, my studio cleaned and ready for studio visits and sold a painting! I hung a show for two artists, dropped off work at two shows and finally here I am getting to writing this newsletter. Coming home was filled with an abundance of activities and I am truly grateful to be here.
I will leave it at that. In the meantime, take good care and be safe out there.
All the best,
Zoe
