Wreck Your Own Adventure Newsletter 2-8-26: Blue Food

Greetings, Wrecking Crew!

I hope this newsletter finds you well, warm, and safe.

This is actually a cookie. It is not Smurf poop.

Are you a person who likes to shop in weird stores? As you probably already can guess, I sure do. Lucky for me, there are quite a few weird stores around here.

One I particularly like is called Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL). As you may gather from the name, its headquarters are in Rhode Island. But one can find OSJL stores all over the Northeast United States. The closest one to me is across the river in Walpole, New Hampshire, which is just about a five-minute car ride.
OSJL is a discount retail department store that sells a lot of overstock stuff. That means their stock is inconsistent, which, like a thrift store, results in some unusual and exciting finds.
Which brings us to the photo up top there.

That blue blob is a cookie.
A big cookie. 5 ounces (just under 142g for my Canadian and European friends).
Ostensibly for humans. I hope it’s for humans. I ate it after dinner.
The company is called “Fat & Weird” and… well… I resemble that remark! They must’ve seen me coming from a mile away when they came up with that company name.
Anyway, in my entire life I have never eaten something so saturated with blue food coloring. And I grew up eating Smurf ice cream and Smurfberry Crunch cereal!
If I end up looking pretty Smurfy tomorrow morning, you can bet I’ll announce it on the radio.

“I HATE when there are no more blue cookies!”

Oh right! The radio! That’s why we’re here!

Tune in tomorrow to my regular weekly radio show, Wreck Your Own Adventure on WFMU’s Give the Drummer Radio
I’m on from 9am-noon.
Go here to tune in: https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/161090

We always have Snack Time right around 9:45am. I won’t be eating any blue cookies (I only bought one), but surely there will be something good. Tune in and find out what it is.

See you on the radio!
xo,
-Wendy del Formaggio
