West End Redevelopment: City West sale funds rehab, pledges no resident displacement.

Cincinnati plans to sell 105 City West apartments for $12M to pay off debt and fund a $200M rehab of 581 units. Officials say no residents will be displaced, with relocations offered within the development or nearby. Work starts next summer, led by Gorman & Company.

Office Return: Kroger ends remote work, increases downtown Cincinnati foot traffic.

Kroger will require 4,800 corporate employees to return full-time to its Cincinnati HQ in January, citing better collaboration. Downtown boosters see a boost for local businesses, as foot traffic has recovered to 80% of pre-pandemic levels.

Water Safety: Lead pipe theft triggers discipline and tighter oversight at Cincinnati Waterworks.

Seven Greater Cincinnati Water Works employees were disciplined after a six-year theft of up to $50K in lead pipes. One resigned, five were reprimanded, and a supervisor suspended. The city is tightening oversight and may pursue criminal charges.

Prison Incident: Corrections officer charged for allegedly striking inmate with belt.

Hamilton County officer Jordan Anderson, 26, pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault for allegedly striking an inmate with a belt. Surveillance shows him holding the belt, but the incident occurred off-camera. Bond considerations cited his position of authority.

Campus Upgrade: UC funds β€˜The Why’ renovation, creating student hub by 2027.

UC Board approves $5M to renovate a former YMCA into β€œThe Why,” a student life hub opening Fall 2027. Upgrades include ADA-compliant interiors, new HVAC, and study/wellness spaces, designed with student input to boost connection and success.
