I am currently in Seattle (patiently waiting) with boots on the ground for this one 😈 — let's go USA and let's get into the ZIP:

Storm Season Is Here — Get Ready for Outages
⛈️ The pattern is shifting. After a week of pure heat, we're heading into a stretch of pop-up afternoon and evening thunderstorms — some with damaging wind potential. Baltimore's already seeing outages this weekend, and that combo is a classic setup for more in 21043.
🔋 Charge everything now. Phones, power banks, laptops — top them off before storms roll through, especially ahead of Monday and Tuesday afternoons.
🌡️ Have a backup plan to stay cool. If the power goes out during this heat, know where you're going — a neighbor with a generator, a cooling center, or just the car AC for a bit. Heat + no power is the combo that actually gets dangerous.
📡 Report outages fast. BGE's outage map and text alerts (text REG to 695400 to sign up) are faster than calling.
🌳 Secure loose items. Patio furniture, trash cans, anything that can become a projectile in gusty winds should get tied down or brought in before storm days.

“Told my husband the AC bill this month is basically a second mortgage. He said worth it. He's right.”
Overheard in 21043
|
|
“My neighbor has had the same inflatable pool deflating in his yard since Memorial Day. At this point it's basically a lawn ornament.”
Overheard in 21043
|
|
“Watched three different neighbors pretend not to see each other at Wegmans so nobody had to have a whole conversation. Suburbia's finest sport.”

Ellicott City granite helped build the Baltimore Basilica — America's first Catholic cathedral.
Gray granite quarried right along the Patapsco River in the early 1800s was hauled by ox cart along Frederick Road to Baltimore to build what's now the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The building was designed by Benjamin Latrobe — the same architect behind the U.S. Capitol. Traces of those old quarries are still visible today; one sits where a gas station now stands along Frederick Road.
