📈 Inflation surprised to the downside. June’s CPI report, out July 14, showed prices fell 0.4% for the month — the biggest one-month drop in over six years — pulling annual inflation down to 3.5%, below the 3.8% economists expected. The log cabin on Main Street has been taken apart and moved twice.

The Thomas Isaac Log Cabin, built around 1780, is believed to be one of the very first structures in Ellicott City. In the 1870s it served as a central gathering place for the area’s Black community before St. Luke A.M.E. Church was built. It originally stood on Merryman Street, but in 1980 it was fully dismantled and put into county storage at Centennial Park, then rebuilt piece by piece at its current spot on Main Street in 1987. It got moved again, temporarily, after the 2018 flood — then came right back.
