The Singles Tax Cover is here!

This week has been not great due to having the cold. I’ve spend the last few days alternating between my bed and my couch for work, coughing, sneezing and dry heaving. Not fun.

But there was a bright moment among all the tissues. The cover for my book is out!

The cover for The Singles Tax: No-nonsense advice for solo earners
Shiny!

It’s a cliché but I didn’t expect this when I started this newsletter five years ago. Yes, I was told I should write a book. That’s the default for anyone who writes for a living but writing a 1,500-2,000 word article is vastly different from writing 40,000 words. Thanks to Kelvin, my agent, who reached out and Jen, my editor, this book will be a reality as of January 6, 2026.

You can pre-order The Singles Tax now. The official carrier in Canada is Indigo and Simon and Schuster in the US. Other bookstores will order it. One friend already pre-ordered via Book City, which, thank you very much, Anne!

Now, a warning. This book will become my entire personality for the next four months. My job is to promote the book and you will see that in the upcoming newsletters, even the one I’m currently writing about creating your deathlist. Promotion will be at the bottom of each newsletter, so you can skip it if you want. If I get any media coverage, I’ll probably link it here as well. Regular Budgette coverage will continue, don’t worry about that.

Pre-orders do help and if not, ask your library to get a copy. As always, thank you very much and I look forward to where this takes The Budgette. (Consultations on policy? Talks? Yes, definitely. Reach out.)

Oh, and yes, there will be a launch. I don’t have those details yet.
