TGT - 7th September 2026 - The Last Thylacine

Humans have been responsible for the extinction of countless species, some more famously than others.

Sometimes the result of human action is identified in time, those animals are protected and attempts are made to prevent an extinction.

At other times we notice too late. Sometimes a last individual of a species is identified, with no way to save them. This is a common enough situation that a word was invented for that individual - an endling.

That we have an exact date, video and last picture of the Thylacine endling which died 90 years ago today is a powerful way to highlight the actions of humans on the world around us.

Tell your students tomorrow the story of the last Tasmanian Tiger.
