Stanly County Democratic Party – September Updates

Dear Stanly County Democrats,

It’s an odd time for us politically – we are one of the few NC counties with no municipal elections this year, and COVID has meant we have not been able to gather. The Democratic Women and Century Club had planned to restart this month, but those plans have been delayed.

During this time, the county officers have been meeting monthly. Our primary goal is to register more Democrats in Stanly County. To that effort, we have:

  1. Created landing page for voter registration, https://stanly.myvotenc.org

  2. Purchased a data list of potential unregistered Democrats in the county, and are contacting those on the list through email

  3. Have created a group to call and follow up personally with those unregistered Democrats on the list

  4. Are fundraising throughout the state to help in our registration efforts

We look forward to seeing you when we can do so safely!

Best,

Kevin Taylor

Chair, Stanly County Democratic Party

2022 Elections

Local elections are key to voter turnout and excitement. Please consider running for a local office, or finding people to run for such offices.

Candidate filing will be Monday, December 6 through Friday, December 17 for 2022 elections. To run as a Democrat, you must be a registered Democrat by September 19 to declare candidacy on December 17. To check someone’s registration, go to https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup/.

The easiest way to see what races you qualify for is to look yourself up in the database and see which districts you are in for School Board, Commissioner, and so on.
