We’ve got a busy month ahead with Pride events, coalition organizing, electoral events, community outreach, and opportunities for new people to get involved.

A lot of this work is connected - building stronger relationships, stronger coalitions, and stronger grassroots infrastructure here in Spokane.

Our monthly meetings are the best place to hear about the broader vision behind these projects, ask questions, meet other organizers, and find ways to plug in based on your interests, skills, and availability.

Spokane People’s Calendar (SPC) Monthly Meeting
Saturday, June 6

SAN/PRIDE Center

In honor of Pride Month, we’ll be hosting this month’s meeting at the SAN/PRIDE Community Center. We’ll also hear updates from SAN about the work they’ve been doing locally and ways people can support the community.

As always, free food will be provided with vegan/GF options available.

We’ll be discussing:

• Money Out of Politics

• Ranked Choice Voting and Election Reform

• Universal Healthcare

• Coalition building and local organizing

• Upcoming community and electoral events

Spokane Pride Parade & Festival
Saturday, June 13
11:00 AM - 11:00 PM

This year we'll be marching in the Spokane Pride Parade alongside volunteers and organizers from:

• Fix Democracy First - Spokane

• FairVoteWA - Spokane

• Spokane for Whole Washington

This collaboration reflects the kind of coalition building we're hoping to grow through the Eastern Washington Coalition for Systemic Change (EWACS) - bringing together organizations working on mutual aid, direct action, electoral reform, healthcare, community support, and other efforts to create lasting change in our region.

We'd love to make as large and visible a showing of solidarity as possible, so invite your friends and anyone interested in experiencing Pride and marching with us.

More details will be shared soon about where and when to meet before the parade.

We’ll also be tabling throughout the festival and would love additional volunteers to help staff the table, talk with community members, hand out materials, and help connect people with local organizing efforts.

Fix Democracy First Spokane Art Build & Organizing Meeting

Join us for an afternoon of art, organizing, and conversation while learning more about the movements for Money Out of Politics and Ranked Choice Voting alongside organizers from Fix Democracy First and FairVoteWA.

Free food with vegan/GF options will be available.

Spo-Candidate Meet & Bingo
Sunday, June 21

Central Library Events A/B

We’re helping organize a community-focused candidate meet and greet event featuring candidates for Congress, State Legislature, and county-wide positions.

This event is being organized in partnership with the Inland Northwest Coalition for the Liberation of Palestine and supported by other local organizations.

Attendees will receive bingo cards encouraging them to interact with participating candidates throughout the event. Completed bingo cards can be entered into a raffle featuring prizes donated by local businesses, artists, and organizations.

We’ll also be serving free food with vegan/GF options available.

More details will be released soon including participating candidates, raffle prizes, and a more detailed event schedule.

People’s Town Hall
Sunday, July 12
Doors open at 12:00 PM
Event begins around 12:30 PM
nxʷyxʷyetkʷ Hall - Spokane Central Library 3rd Floor

The People’s Town Hall will be a more formal and structured candidate forum focused on Congressional and State Legislative races.

The event is being organized with support from Spokane Public Library, KYRS, and other local organizations.

Doors will open at noon with live local music before the program begins.

Organizations will be invited to participate by submitting questions connected to their work and ideally asking them live during the event to help create a more community-centered town hall atmosphere.

We’ll also be providing:

• Free food with vegan/GF options

• Childcare

• ASL interpretation services

It’s honestly exciting to see how many people and organizations have started finding ways to collaborate with each other over the last several months.

A lot of us have spent years feeling isolated, disconnected, or unsure how to plug into meaningful local organizing. We’re trying to help change that by creating more spaces for people to meet each other, build trust, share ideas, and work together toward long-term change.
