I hadn't seen your reply! I'm not very familiar with Jordan's work - I've read the recently published "The Essential June Jordan" from Penguin Modern Classics, and I'm currently reading her collection of essays "Civil Wars". Both are probably excellent first reads.

This summer I came across a little book called "A Rage in Harlem: June Jordan & Architecture" by Nikil Saval, about her interest in architecture more generally, and specifically her collaboration with Buckminster Fuller. It was fascinating. Some of the material in there is also in "Civil Wars", but reading the whole thing, I see more closely her attention to space and environs overall.

Golly, I don't know I can say I have a favorite Kingfisher. Her writing spans so much. For straightforward horror I probably like "A House With Good Bones" best - out of her World of the White Rat books I like the Clocktaur series the best. But I haven't come across any I didn't like. I am as a whole less interested in fantasy but that hasn't stopped me enjoying hers.
