The future of this newsletter
Do you want to remain subscribed?
I’m going to be moving off substack. I’m slowly moving my archive to buttondown, and I’ll be fully moved over by the end of January.
This is slightly terrifying, this newsletter is a regular source of income for me, and I know this means I’ll lose some subscribers, it’s inevitable. However, the owners of substack have said they’re okay with Nazi ideas being on their platform, and I’m not okay with that. I know there’s no perfect platform, but at least buttondown have said Nazi content won’t be accepted on their site. NOTE: Substack have since removed one? newsletter but I’ve already made the decision, so I’m moving.
So, what does that mean? Well, I can take you all with me, subscribing you to the new newsletter.
My paid subscribers should have already received an email, but the short if it is: buttondown and substack both use stripe, so I can move all you over as well with no action needed from you.
What I need from you
If you don’t want to remain subscribed as I move, either unsubscribe before the end of January, or drop me a message. I won’t take it personally, I promise. Who amongst us hasn’t signed up to a newsletter only to let it linger in our inbox? I’d rather not clutter up you email if you’re not getting value out of my writing.
If you want to stay subscribed, you don’t need to do anything. I’ll export and import all of my subscribers to buttondown. You may need to check spam for an email from SelfCareBackpack@buttondown.email on February 1st if you use gmail (gmail seems to have decided buttondown emails are spam). If it does go to spam, mark it as not spam, and hopefully that will solve the problem.
If you decide to upgrade to a paid subscription, I will be incredibly grateful. Buttondown doesn’t take a percentage of my subscriptions, I pay a flat fee, so any money comes fully to me.
Either way, thank you for your support and readership for however long you’ve been here. Writing this has brought me unfathomable joy, and the fact that people actually read it and want it in their inbox is amazing.
My first year of self-employment really started with this newsletter, and I am honoured to be in your inboxes. Thank you for bewing with me on this journey.
Thanks,
Gem
