Hi
Welcome to my substack! Thanks so much for signing up! If you like what I write, you can support my work and gain access to all my articles, threads, recommendations, and anything else I publish here
I've been working on a Content Strategy(TM) for 2023, and, after seeing and reading other people's substack and the warmth and freedom of the space, I wanted to bring SelfCareback to this space.
Lets start with an introduction: My name is Gem (they/them pronouns please). I work in tech by day, and am a person-centred counsellor in training by night. I do self care coaching and resources over on selfcarebackpack.com.
Didn’t you have a newsletter?
I did! But I hadn’t touched it since 2021, and so it felt stale, and I wasn’t even sure if the people there would still be interested in what I had to offer. I deleted that, so all people’s data is cleared and gone, and I’m starting up here.
So what’s this about?
I wanted a place to write, to share, and this felt right for the moment. My plan is to build up a series of posts to post regularly, and then supplement with extra posts when needed. I also want to share what I’m reading or enjoying, as well as other more personal bits. I plan to write more free form posts on emapthy, trauma, healing, and my work in training to be a counsellor.
As some of you know I was made redundant at the end of last month. I’m using February to push SelfCare Backpack and write and write and write before I start to look for employment. If you’re interested in my corporate work: for SCB I do talks and workshops, but also consulting on wellbeing initiatives.
For tech, I’m a quality engineer, previously at the principal level. I’m interested in coaching and building a quality culture in teams and organisations. As with all things, my practice is people-first, and people-focused.
If any of this sounds interesting, feel free to contact me
