No Good Trip goes Unpunished

Hello, Readers All,

Well, ok: Hello, all three readers who read the last newsletter. And to anyone else who happens to be in the room. I’ve let this newsletter thing wither a bit similar to my lack of interest in (cough, cough) Content Creation. Blame where blame is due: The Reliable Narrator.

Where the magic happens

I had the title before I had much of a story. Then I got the radical idea to delve into forty plus years of journals and have a crack at memoir writing. Coming up on six months in and I’ve got nearly 250 pages and am mid-Chapter 20. I’ve gotten up to the milestone year of 2000.

The lode I’m mining

I’ve saved Chapter One as a PDF and am happy to send it along for anyone having such queer ideas of fun <wink>.

Ok, that’s been the day to day work since January. But all work and no play, etc. meant that we took time away from our creative pursuits to have four days in London and a week in Paris at the end of April/beginning of May. Here is my partner in life and art’s thought provoking and really fascinating take on the trip:

The trip itself was really a fantastic experience. We stayed at a lovely little apartment in Belleville, near the Pyrenees stop on the 11 line that boasted this view upon leaving the station:

The view from Belleville when we got off the Metro

A week after returning, the punishment began and continues. We’re both coughing as if this is a TB ward but at least the two (not one, TWO) canker sores I got after that first week home have healed.

Know what? Worth it. Absolutely worth every cough and each wince of pain during the week of the canker sores.

While I’m currently not particularly interested in Content Creation, I may opt for my own Medium / Substack based run down of the trip complete with photos.

Right now, I’m worn out and need to get back to the lovely cup of chamomile tea with honey that AleXander had brought me.

As ever, the hat’s by the door with a modestly inscribed thank you note (premium subscribers get a special shout out!).

There we are, one of the random things I’ve flung into the world to make its way wherever. If it lands in your inbox, feel free and encouraged even to respond with outlandish compliments and/or inland empires. Your pick!

And thank you!

RW
