Content Creator? Please.

Hello, Readers All,

Can it be true that this is the first newsletter I’ve sent out in this New Year of 2026? Imagine. Occasionally I’ll still wander over to Medium, open my drafts folder, sift through the roughly fifty half-assed beginnings that haven’t yet given up hope of becoming Content. Too bad, little drafts, my content creation urge has vanished.

As to “The Reliable Narrator”, my current work, I’m about halfway through Chapter 12. I’d say at this point I’m not quite halfway home…whatever that looks like.

Big drama over the weekend in our building.

FDNY on the job in Harlem

The smoke coming from under the door of one of the ground floor apartments was bad news for that tenant. No smoke or fire alarms sounded but an alert resident was already calling 911 when we came down to head out for the day.

While the fire was fully contained those FDNY guys took no chances

The first of seven (or eight?) fire trucks arrived in minutes and literally dozens of fully equipped fire fighters made short work of the fire. Happily, the tenant’s little terrier was fine if a bit shaken up. The tenant, however, was more than a little freaked out when he got home and saw what the FDNY had done to his humble apartment.

Nothing left but the torn out walls in there now

While a collection is being taken up to help our neighbor who has pretty much lost everything except that shivering little dog, the rest of the folks here and nearby are either thankful they have renters’ insurance or are looking into getting it.

When he realized that there was an actual fire happening, my partner in life and art, turned around and tore up five flights of stairs to rescue his hard drives.

Remember, Readers All, renters’ insurance and back up EVERYTHING!

Speaking of said partner, he recently posted his new movie on YouTube, “Dusk Eyes”.

“Through a septuagenarian lens, attentive to a sense of lifetime completion and achievement, “Dusk Eyes” looks at themes of death, art, technology, sex, war, philosophy, consumerism, music, the environment and more as they are reflected in work, in life, in expectation, and in dreams” - Zěna Kōan

Our first Real Winter in years!

There you have it, Readers All, the short version is that we are both still creating stuff just not content. As I prefer not to add my voice to the beast of AI, there will be less and less of me to be found online.

A fond appreciation to the premium subscribers still devotedly sending along monthly support. I have every intention of providing early peeks of the work to you. But, it’s going to be awhile.

Naturally, the hat’s by the door for anyone else who cares to toss a few coins in to keep the renters’ insurance paid!
